This 4 days Uganda birding safari in Murchison falls national takes visitors to encounter numerous water and savannah bird species that roam in the park. Besides encountering birds, travelers have a game viewing experience to see some of the wild animals like lions, giraffe, elephant, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs and much more.

This adventure is remarkable in a way that it involves boat ride that takes visitors to the bottom of the falls.

Day 1
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

The driver / guide will transfer you to Murchison falls national park via Masindi town where you will have you en-route lunch at Kabalega resort and proceed to Murchison falls via the southern gate. As you enter through this gate, be ready to have a brief game viewing as you transfer to the lodge.

This track passes via the top of the Murchison falls which is a spot for clear sightseeing of the entire national park. It’s in this spot where you can hear the sound of the world’s powerful falls passing through the narrow gorge between the rock and hitting the 40 meters pool with a very strong sound.

After this brief excitement continue to the lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay at Paraa safari lodge, Pakuba Safari lodge or Red chili Rest camp

Day 2
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After breakfast, embark on a game drive to encounter some of the wild animals, which include warthogs, Elephants, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Oribi, Rothschild Giraffes, Uganda Kob, Jackals, Lions, Bush Bucks, Bohor Reedbuck, and primates like the Patas Monkey.

Numerous resident birds in this park include;Red-throated Bee-eater, Red-cheeked Cordon-bleu, Red-faced Crombec, Crested Francolin, Spotted Morning Thrush, Chestnut-crowned Sparrow Weaver, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Striped Kingfisher, Speckle-fronted Weaver, Croaking Cisticola, Northern Red Bishop, Grey-tailed Warbler, Sooty Chat, Heuglin’s Francolin, Yellow-mantled Widowbird, Piapiac, Grey Kestrel, Rufous Sparrow, Broad-billed Roller, Yellow-throated Long Claw, Cuckoo, Carmine Bee-eater, Rattling Cisticola, Swallow-tail Bee-eater, Viteline Masked Weaver, White-winged Widowbird, Grey-capped Warbler, Blue-naped Moosebird, Martial Eagle, Rufous-naped and Flappet Larks, Siffling and Foxing Cisticolas, Black-billed Barbet, Ruppel’s Griffon, Lappet-faced and Palm-nut Vultures.

After the game drive retire to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a boat ride to the bottom of the falls which is also concentrated with many water bird species and water mammals like crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes among others. When this adventure is done, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as on day 1.

Day 3
Day 3: Whole day bird watching experience

On this day take your breakfast and embark on an exclusive birding adventure in the northern part of the park. Here be ready to encounter birds like White-rumped Canary, Foxy Cisticola, Egyptian Plover, and Red-winged Grey warbler, Secretary Bird, Bat Hawk, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Vinaceous Dove, Bruce’s Green Pigeon, Chestnut-crowned Sparrow Weaver, Carmine Bee-eater and the Nightjars (Pennant-winged & Standard-winged).

On this day, you will be served with a picnic lunch in the wild. Retire for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as on day 2.

Day 4
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala

On this day, check out at the lodge and embark on a transfer to Kampala. You will first visit the top of the falls to have a final view of the entire park, maybe having a sight on some of the mammals that you missed out during the first drive.

From there you will continue to Masindi with an en-route lunch and proceed to Kampala where the safari will end at the hotel or at the airport depending on the schedule.
