Overview

The 5 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee safari starts and ends in Kampala. This safari takes you to two great national parks of Uganda. These are Bwindi impenetrable national park where the visitor can enjoy the most exciting gorilla trekking activity which is a life time experience and encounter the Batwa communities located adjacent to the park.

The other national park is Kibale forest national park which is known for the presence of the primates hence the name “the world’s primate Capital”. Here visitors embark on chimp trekking experience and a nature walk in Bigodi swamp which is a bird sanctuary as well asa habitat for some primates.

This 5 days safari gives visitors the adventure for only apes and primates which is one of Uganda’s best encounters during a Uganda safari.

Day 1
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

With an early morning breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from the hotel and drive to Bwindi forest national park.This is Uganda’s most visited national park by travelers during any safari in Uganda.

While on the way, you will have a brief stopover at the equator crossing in Kayabwe along Kampala- Masaka road and experience the difference between northern and southern hemisphere with unique experiments that a performed by the site guides.

On the equator, you can have the best photography moments and buying souvenirs from various craft shop just at the equator. Proceed for lunch in Mbarara at Agip motel or Igongo cultural center.

After lunch, you will drive direct to Bwindi national park while having beautiful view of the Kigezi hills and the spectacular homestead that represent real African countryside.

Enter the park, check in at the lodge while dinner and overnight will be at the lodge; Buhoma lodge , Bwindi Haven Lodge or Buhoma community camp.

Day 2
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Encounter

After an early morning breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters to be briefed about Gorilla trekking Adventure in Bwindi concerning the dos and don’ts. You will be assigned a ranger to accompany you in to the jungle to start the search for these majestic mountain gorillas.

It is sometimes tough to walk under the thickets so it real needs fitness. The trekkers are always recommended to carry along with them coats and boots because the weather is unpredictable. Trekkers can also use the porters that are available to carry their luggage at a small cost.

The search for the gorillas can take 2 to 6 hours but when you meet them, trekkers are only given one hour to interact with them at a distance of 6 meters.

After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and in the evening you can embark on Batwa community walk to enjoy some cultural performance.

Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the lodge at Buhoma lodge, Bwindi Haven Lodge or Buhoma community camp

Day 3
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast you will embark on a transfer to Kibale forest national park.

Drive through the south western countryside of Uganda offering awesome and spectacular view of the entire area with the stunning rolling Kigezi hills making the transfer remarkable for life time journey.

Drive to Fort Portal, where you will have your lunch and in the afternoon embark on a community walk in fort portal town then in the even proceed to Kibale forest national park.

Check in at the lodge, have dinner and overnight at the lodge; Ndali Lodge, Kibale Forest camp or Rwenzori View Guest House.

Day 4
Day 4: Chimp trekking and Bigodi wetland walk

After an early morning breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters to be briefed about the Do’s and Don’ts during chimp trekking.

By 8am, join in to search for the chimps in the park. These are the closest relatives of human beings with 98% of their DNA similar to humans. As you search for the chimps, definitely you will encounter some of the primates like L’Hoest monkeys, golden monkeys, Black and white colobus monkeys, grey checked Mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, bush babies and many bird species which include the numerous bird species like green breasted pitta, rumped tinker birdand the green breasted pitta.

Kibale forest is the world’s primate capital with large concentration of primates. After chimp trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon embark on a visit to Bigodi swamp which is a bird sanctuary and some primates can be seen inhabiting the swamp. Some of the bird species that visitors can encounter on this swamp are; Blue turaco, green breasted pitta among others.

After the nature walk at Bigodi, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight; Ndali Lodge, Kibale Forest camp or Rwenzori View Guest House.

Day 5
Day 5: Return to Kampala

Have breakfast at leisure, after embark on a transfer to Kampala and the en-route lunch will be in Mubende town; though on the way, you can enjoy roasted meat sold in some spots by the locals on the way to Kampala.

Drop off will be at the hotel or at the airport depending on the schedule.
